| Mission & Philosophy |
Mission StatementOur mission is to support and guide parents and students in formulating and achieving their educational goals. We do this by providing professional assistance, evaluation, learning resources, and technologies that best suit the needs of the family within the guidelines established by the Province of BC. ![]() PhilosophyWe believe that the parent is the primary educator. We have the unique challenge of ensuring provincial learning outcomes are met while still respecting the parents’ goals for their child’s education. TLA is characterized by providing a high quality educational program with a focus on building strong relationships. Many families stay enrolled in the program and recommend us to others because of the personal relationship the teacher has built with them. Establishing a trusting relationship is one of the primary goals when first meeting with a family. TLA also prides itself on running a very ethical program that follows government policy. We need to ensure students are meeting the provincial learning outcomes, we need to ensure weekly communication between teachers and parents or students, we need to evaluate students’ work and we need to write report cards that reflect student progress. These requirements are much easier, when a supportive and trusting relationship is established between the parents and teachers. |
